The blockbuster of the month premieres this monsoon in the prime time only on HBO India. The latest 2015 release is a comedy featuring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in the lead. The 121 minutes film revolves around a 70 year old widower and a retired executive turned intern named Ben Whittaker (De Niro) and his boss, Jules Ostin (Hathaway).

Robert De Niro Becomes an Intern

Life after retirement becomes too boring for Ben who used to work for a company making phone books. He applies for a senior citizen internship programme at About The Fit, an emerging e-commerce fashion startup founded by Jules who has agreed to reach out to the community. She agrees to accept seniors as interns and initially skeptical, Jules is won over by Ben’s likeability when he is assigned work under her and got frozen at first.

Everybody Loves Ben

Ben heads to work one day quite early to organise work desks for whole office. After work that day, he notices that Jules’s chauffeur is drinking and convinces him to leave while driving her home himself for days to come. It is revealed further that Ben used to work in the same building where the e-commerce venture is based. In the coming days, a romance develops between him and the in-house masseuse, Fiona while he wins the affections of young workers.

Mr. Fix-It-All

He shows his commitment towards Jules by barging into the home of her mother to delete the scathing email that she accidentally sent to her. Ben also gets closer to Jules family. Her husband Matt is a stay-at-home dad for their daughter, Paige since About The Fit took off. Her marriage is breaking apart over her long hours mainly because of her hands-on management style. Jules is also under pressure from the investors wishing her to give up the post of CEO to a person outside the company as the workload is too much.

She is unable to give-in to their wishes after having grown the company from a startup from her kitchen to an enterprise of 220 employees within just 18 months. She starts considering the offer thinking of spending more time with her family. In the meanwhile, Ben discovers the secret affair of Matt with a parent at his daughter’s school. It is revealed that Jules knows of this cheating as well and in an attempt to work upon her marriage, she prepares to hire a potential CEO. Ben tries to change her mind.

To know how the story ends finally, just tune into HBO India for a month end premiere of the latest flick, The Intern.

HBO Blockbuster of the Month: "Rock of Ages"

This month, Blockbuster of the month is Rock of Ages. The movie is amazingly wonderful and that takes you to the Rock music world.

When it comes to Rock music, I doubt anybody could be a bigger fan than me. My love for Rock music goes back to early 90’s and since then I’ve been hooked to the likes of Madonna, Guns N Roses, Bryan Adams, etc. So, how could I miss a movie like the ‘Rock of Ages’. It released last year and was one hell of a movie. An english drama movie about two friends and their musical journey.

Adam Shankman really did show his directrorial abilities. Amazing visualization and picturisation! One thing that really amazed me, was the sense of timing. The humour was all over the place and it made me go ‘Whoa’. I’m sure it will have the same effect on you guys too. More than that it was sheer bliss to watch Tom Cruise (Stacee Jaxx) in a Rockstar avatar. In specific, his 80’s inspired wardrobe was really amusing. If you are a Rock music fan, then mark my words, it is a must watch for you!, And what’s more fascinating is the fact that it’s going to be premiered on HBO India, a premier hollywood movie Channel as ‘Blockbuster of the Month’ on Saturday, 27th July at 9pm. How cool is that!? I’m so very excited to watch it again. And I think, so should be you. THAT perhaps is how good the movie is, Out of all the other reasons, one reason that particularly stood out for me was the vast and amazing number of songs from Rock legends like Def Leppard, Journey, Scorpions, Poison, Foreigner, Guns N' Roses, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Bon Jovi, David Lee Roth, Twisted Sister, Whitesnake, and others. And nowhere will you find these songs to be a misfit. The songs are so aptly infused in the movie that it feels as if they were specifically sung for that particular scene. Classic rock, I tell you.

Other than Tom Cruise, there are actors like Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Åkerman, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston and Alec Baldwin. Tom Cruise is an absolute bliss to watch… no doubts. Apart from him, I found the role of Catherine Zeta Jones quite amazing. It is simply incredible to see her transformation. She is portrayed as somebody who apparently isn’t a Rock music lover but in retrospect she was a Stacee Jaxx aka Tom Cruise fan herself. The best part was how she comes back to her senses and goes all gaga over Jaxx, all over again. Such a delight! Really!

So, this July you know what to look forward to. And I’m sure as hell, you won’t be disappointed. The movies has each and every aspect that makes it a must watch. Just hold onto the excitement and wait for the television premiere of ‘Rock of Ages’.

Mirror, Mirror on the wall. Who’s the fairest of them all?

I don’t think I’ve to say a single word now to tell you all what I’m talking about here. Yes, Snow White it is. My joys knew no bounds when I got to know that HBO India is soon going to show the blockbuster flick, ‘Mirror Mirror’. I was quite a fan of ‘Snow White and Seven Dwarfs’ stories during my early childhood days. And this punch line ‘Mirror Mirror on the wall!’…I can’t even remember how many times I used to recite it while playing the evil queen, though Snow White had always been my favourite character.

And now as I heard the news of HBO India showcasing the best of the English movies under ‘HBO Blockbuster of the Month’, I’m delighted to share it with you all that May is up for ‘Mirror Mirror’. Yuhoooo! I caught this English movie last year on-screens and I’m more than happy to catch it again on TV now.
