I’ve always had this thing for the adventure flicks. And when they come added with a twist of history, it makes my day. One such movie is Hugo. It is a 2011 3D historical adventure drama film based on Brian Selznick's novel ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’ which is a story about a boy who lives alone in the Gare Montparnasse Railway Station in Paris. The boy is wrapped up in a mystery involving his late father and an automaton created by him. Somehow the automaton is a cue to solving the mystery. The boy goes on in his search of the key to make the Automaton work. And, that means… ADVENTURE OVERLOAD.
What attracts me more about this film is the fact that it centers around the Paris of 1930s. The beautiful editing, amazing location, superb art and ultimate history. It seems like a charming 3D French postcard. All in all, a bliss in itself!
And the ultimate thing that makes it a must-watch is that this Martin Scorsese movie won the same number of Academy Awards as Scorsese's ‘The Aviator’, totalling five. Both were nominated for ‘Best Picture’ and ‘Best Director’ in Academy Awards, but lost out. The film also won the same number of Oscars in the same year as ‘The Artist’. Now, that does make it a blockbuster. No?
And the happy news is HBO India is soon going to premier it on 28th April at 1pm and 9pm. Now how cool is that! Latest blockbuster premieres of hollywood movies... what else does a movie buff need?
Well, that does explain their recent 2 million+ reach on Facebook of which I’m of course a part. To celebrate this achievement, they have come up with ‘HBO 2 Good Millionaires’ Club’. Here you get a badge that states that you’re a proud member of HBO 2 Good Millionaires’ Club… No less than an honour for a movie buff like me! And a truly deserved achievement for HBO India, considering the variety and the latest premieres they are serving currently. HBO India! You are surely on a roll. A hearty congratulations from my side to you for such a splendid reach. You are the one stop destination for all the movie lovers like me.
Can’t wait for all the amazing blockbusters and superb premieres that they are going to show. But as of now I’m quite excited for Hugo.
